EnoEtna (Santa Venerina)

EnoEtna is a typical and famous wine festival held in Santa Venerina during the first two weekends of September. EnoEtna is not all about wine: it is also, entertainment, such as music, guided tours of the territory and a great oppurtunity to taste different but all excellent Sicilian products. The stands are usually collocated in villa of Santa Venerina, in Piazza Roma, where every night a different show is offered. 

In recent years, the creativity and culinary refinement of local chefs have created special menus to be enjoyed during the festival, made special by the tasting and matvhing to localc wines. Even the school of Giarre is present with a stand, where is it possible to taste delicious dishes to be enjoyed with spirits and wines. You never get bored during EnoEtna. Tourists and visitors can easily choose between exhibitions, wine tours, visits to distilleries, wineries and guided tours to the cultural heritage of the city.

Anyway, one of the most exciting event during the EnoEtna festival is the "Palio delle Botti" and "Palio delle Contrade". The Palio delle Botti is a challenge between municipalities: empty, very heavy, barrels are rolled on the most steep roads of the city and the team which makes the best times wins. In the Palio delle contrade teams representing the districts of the municipality compete with each other in different games, engaging and amusing the audience.
